Context:
India's target by 2030 is to achieve 500 gigawatts of renewable energy (RE) capacity. However, inadequate power grids, supply bottlenecks, and untapped solar and wind energy potentials hinder development.
Objective:
India is making progress towards achieving its RE target.
Approach:
The initiative advises the Indian Ministry of Energy on expanding rooftop photovoltaics and wind installations and modernizing old facilities. It supports the improvement of local solar supply chains. It provides consultancy on reforms, grid expansion, digital tools for grid operators, and promotes women's empowerment to address the skilled labor shortage.
