Skills4Abroad at GIZ’s Academy in Bonn

Prepare for your new job side by side with other international cooperation professionals.

In both its current and earlier forms, GIZ’s Academy for International Cooperation (AIZ) has been running training courses on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for more than 60 years, preparing experts and managers in German international cooperation for assignments abroad. From 2026, business travellers and individuals working in remote project management have also been able to benefit from AIZ’s well-established programme.

Our training is designed to prepare experts and managers for the specific challenges they will face as well as to support them during their work in international cooperation. That includes learning how to stay safe, how to act in a diversity-sensitive and participatory way, and how to communicate clearly and confidently in the local language.

Sharing and networking with colleagues – both within and outside your own organisation and specialist field – is a major feature of our courses. Our participants come from a around 40 German development cooperation organisations, so you will be meeting people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experience.

You can find our programme catalogue and and overview of the dates on offer in the Downloads.
