The Fund supports the special initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) "Transformation of Agricultural and Food Systems":
It promotes agricultural innovation in the areas of technology, partnership and processes. Topics include mechanisation, digitalisation, renewable energies, agricultural research, policy and trade, and cooperation with industry.
In doing so, it supports innovators in the development of individual and self-sustaining business models in which gender-sensitive to gender-transformative strategies are integrated and ensures that learning experiences are shared, for example through events, learning platforms, etc.
The Fund is also implementing emergency measures to mitigate the impact of global food crises, such as those triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic or by the war against Ukraine. Topics include food preservation, seed and machinery procurement, and training on cultivation practices.
