Context: High-quality vocational education and training and higher education increase people's employability and improve their participation in economic and social life. At the same time, qualified experts are an important prerequisite for the economic development of any country. However, vocational education and training and higher education systems in many of Germany's partner countries have so far been inadequately geared to the requirements of the labour market.
Objective: The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is undergoing profound change. Digitalisation, decarbonisation and demographic change are changing how, where and what work is done. This requires continuous adaptation of the qualification and training systems.
The project works in three fields of action:
1. It advises the BMZ on fundamental and cross-cutting issues in vocational education and training and higher education and develops these further conceptually.
2. The sector project positions German DC in vocational education and training, higher education and science. This strengthens the BMZ in its role in national, European and international networks. The project also advises on higher education and scholarship programmes in development cooperation.
3. The project advises on green skills. Without experts and managers with relevant green skills, there will be no Just Transition. They are a limiting factor for the necessary structural changes. The BMZ is supported in strategically shaping the green transformation internationally.
