Context:
Economic cooperation with partner countries of the German development cooperation and their sustainable economic development are strategic priorities of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Objective:
Approaches to achieving the development policy objectives of the BMZ in the context of sustainable economic and financial systems and sustainable infrastructure are anchored in the strategies and measures of German and international development cooperation.
Approach:
The sector project "Sustainable Economic and Financial Systems" supports and advises the BMZ – specifically Division 410 "Economic Development, Public Finances and Financial Systems" as a key political actor in the areas of sustainable economic and financial systems as well as infrastructure development – in shaping strategies for development cooperation policy, aligning and managing the BMZ portfolio in line with these strategies, and their positioning in the national and international political discourse. The strategic framework is provided by BMZ's strategic priority 3 "Economic Cooperation for Sustainable Prosperity Worldwide" and the BMZ Action Plan "Strong Partnerships for a Successful Global Economy". Thematic priorities include sustainable economic and financial systems, and sustainable infrastructure development. A key focus is on structural measures, improving the economic policy and investment environment in partner countries, and removing structural obstacles for successful economic development.
