Context:
Nature-based solutions are important for protecting biodiversity, promoting adaptation to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This includes, for example, restoring forests and wetlands. However, nature-based measures often receive insufficient financial support.
Objective:
Nature-based solutions are more firmly anchored in investments in the Asia-Pacific region.
Approach:
The project develops investment-ready projects involving nature-based solutions and supplements them with tailored financing solutions. It also provides training on nature-based solutions to the relevant political, private-sector and civil society actors in the partner countries. In addition, it organises knowledge-sharing between countries in the region.
The project cooperates closely with the Nature Solutions Finance Hub (NSFH), a platform of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). It also integrates European development banks into its activities, including the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), the French Development Agency (Agence Française de Développement, AFD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Italian development bank (Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, CDP).
