Context:

Peru is seeking to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This process is complex and requires the Peruvian government to implement extensive reforms in several policy areas. Coordinating the process and all key stakeholders is a major challenge. Previous reforms aimed at OECD accession have not always been implemented in a coordinated and transparent manner. As a result, civil society, the academic and research community and the private sector lack information about the process and opportunities to participate.

Objective:

The Peruvian government is strategically managing the accession process and implementing the necessary reforms for OECD accession.

Approach:

The project supports the Peruvian government in coordinating its OECD accession process. It contributes to better organisation, for example to monitor the progress of the process. It also creates dialogue platforms so that all the institutions concerned work together effectively. Discussions between experts from OECD member countries contributes to this. The project supports Peru in taking a coherent approach to OECD-related reforms and involving non-governmental stakeholders. This includes considering local specificities so that the regions and municipalities also benefit from the changes.

The project is also upgrading a digital platform to make it easier for the general public to access information and for citizens to contribute to the process.
