Context:
The Palestinian higher education system is facing major challenges. Practice-oriented study programmes are often inadequate and insufficiently future-proof. Universities rarely cooperate with companies, although they would benefit from doing so. In addition, students have limited career prospects and high levels of psychosocial stress.
Objective:
Practice-oriented and quality-assured higher education programmes make companies and students in the Palestinian territories more resilient.
Approach:
The project provides advice, training and cooperation between universities, state officials and the private sector. Key measures:
1. It advises the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education and its Commission, which recognises and assures the quality of study programmes. This allows them to further develop control and quality standards for practice-based programmes.
2. The project supports selected higher education institutions in implementing labour market-oriented study programmes, practical research projects and collaboration arrangements with companies. Students acquire practical skills and companies benefit from innovative solutions. This is designed to train students for jobs and make companies more competitive.
The project also promotes sustainability and innovative teaching by implementing new technologies such as virtual labs. At the same time, it expands psychosocial support offerings to support students, improve their access to higher education and boost their resilience.
