Learning naturally

Our campus, with its spacious, light-filled interiors, is situated just next to a nature reserve. The atmosphere on the campus reflects the surroundings: bright, warm and fresh. From Campus Kottenforst you can walk in the woods or the extensive parkland, and spend time learning in the open air – the ideal conditions for deepening the learning experience or simply switching off for a while. Participants use flexible learning methods and interactive learning stations to prepare themselves both physically and mentally for the new phase in their life.

Thinking and building sustainably

Campus Kottenforst was created with nature and sustainability in mind - surrounded by greenery. A new building was added to the existing building in 2018. With its heat-regulating vertical timber façade, the new building meets the highest sustainability standards and has received a gold certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council - CO₂-neutral operation, with 70 per cent of heating and cooling energy generated from renewable sources and green electricity that it produces itself.

The existing building is also undergoing an energy efficiency upgrade - for greater comfort and sustainability. We are creating a campus where people and ideas will come together even more effectively in the future.

Accommodation and rooms

Our campus has two main buildings and two double-unit houses. In addition, there is an underground carpark with 64 parking spaces. Over 60 rooms on two storeys are available to our participants, where they can withdraw for some peace and quiet. Furthermore, there are seven family flats where participants with families can stay while attending a course. All the rooms have a shower and WC, Wi-Fi and a hairdryer, and provide access to the balcony or the garden.

Food and drink

Our canteen offers you a variety of dishes from all over the world. The kitchen, with its regional and sustainable produce, will spoil you with its breakfast buffet, lunch and evening dinner buffet. The friendly staff will be happy to help you at any time, and can cater to your special dietary needs and wishes. For coffee breaks we provide fresh specialty coffees, teas and soft drinks, as well as fruit, biscuits and cakes, and a range of snacks.

Socialising and time off

Campus Kottenforst offers many opportunities for both relaxed and active leisure time - indoors and outdoors in nature.

On campus

Self-study in the Media and Information Centre, interactive learning stations and leisure activities: there is always something happening on campus. In the evening, you can play table tennis or table football with the other guests, or work out in the fitness room. There is also a bowling alley, and you can round off the day by the cosy fireplace or in the lower-level space.

Out in nature

Thanks to its proximity to the Kottenforst nature reserve, you can soon be in nature and renew your energy on a walk or in the nearby climbing park. The forest is right on the doorstep, making it easy to integrate exercise and recreation into everyday life on campus.

Local excursions

It is a short bus ride to the Poppelsdorf district of Bonn with its cafés and castle or Bonn city centre - even late in the evening. At the weekend, trips to Cologne or Koblenz with their diverse culture are well worth it.
