Learning naturally

Our campus, with its spacious, light-filled interiors, is situated just next to a nature reserve. The atmosphere on the campus reflects the surroundings: bright, warm and fresh. From Campus Kottenforst you can walk in the woods or the extensive parkland, and spend time learning in the open air – the ideal conditions for deepening the learning experience or simply switching off for a while. Participants use flexible learning methods and interactive learning stations to prepare themselves both physically and mentally for the new phase in their life.

Sustainable actions and buildings

The new training centre was built with predominantly natural construction methods. It has a temperature-regulating timber slat façade and was constructed in line with the environmental standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Our new building was awarded the DGNB’s gold certificate for features including its carbon-neutral operation, the use of renewable energy for 70 per cent of its energy needs for cooling and heating, and the exclusive use of green electricity that we produce ourselves.

Accommodation and rooms

Our campus has two main buildings and two double-unit houses. In addition, there is an underground carpark with 64 parking spaces. Over 60 rooms on two storeys are available to our participants, where they can withdraw for some peace and quiet. Furthermore, there are seven family flats where participants with families can stay while attending a course. All the rooms have a shower and WC, Wi-Fi and a hairdryer, and provide access to the balcony or the garden.

Food and drink

Our canteen offers you a variety of dishes from all over the world. The kitchen, with its regional and sustainable produce, will spoil you with its breakfast buffet, lunch and evening dinner buffet. The friendly staff will be happy to help you at any time, and can cater to your special dietary needs and wishes. For coffee breaks we provide fresh specialty coffees, teas and soft drinks, as well as fruit, biscuits and cakes, and a range of snacks.

Socialising and time off

Campus Kottenforst offers plenty of things to do in your free time. Whether you want to keep studying for yourself in the Media and Information Centre or at one of the interactive learning stations, or if you’d like to make use of the many different leisure activities, either in-house and outside, the variety on offer ensures an all-round feeling of well-being. Round off the evening with a game of table tennis or table football with the other guests. Go for a workout in our fitness room, play a game of skittles, or just relax over a drink by the cosy fireplace in the bar, or in the beer garden.

You can take some exercise by going for a walk or a bicycle ride. Recharge your batteries with a stroll in the Kottenforst woods or go climbing in the nearby treetop adventure park. The local buses will take you to Bonn’s lovely Poppelsdorf district, where you can enjoy lively cafés and the baroque palace, or to the city centre – even late in the evening. Cologne and Koblenz make excellent destinations for weekend excursions, with their wide range of cultural attractions.
